Interferon treatments started

Update from Sjon...

Wow just finished my first day of interferon injection and wow am I sick and I get to do this for a month.  I'd like to say bring it on but for today I'm saying just get me through this day and then I'll take on tomorrow!! The good news is it's assisting me to where I choose to go and that is a healthy life with all my great friends and family and my awesome wife who is by my side 100% I love you all with all my heart.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!

Great news update! No more cancer in the brain. We got the results today, now just onward and upward! Thank you to all of my great friends and fam. for all your love and support. With angels like you in my corner there is no miracle to great. I love being in partnership with you all on this great mother earth!!!! XOXOXO

Yeah - finally got a little good news today Sjon's MRI of his brain showed no new growths :):) Just taking it one day at a time. I love you Sjon!

5k Directions and Schedule

We are getting excited and it looks like there is going to be a great turnout this coming saturday!!!!

Directions to the Dr. Roi O. Hardy park in Riverton for 5k

12400 S  1000 W Riverton

Go to 1300 West then to 12400 South turn east go to 1000 West.
You will end up in the parking lot of the park.  If you end up in the Rotary Park just walk across the bridge just west of that park.  They are almost connected.  

Online registration is open until Sept. 16th online registration HERE

8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Registration at the park starts

10:00 a.m. 5k starts

Kids 1 mile starts shortly after

11:00 to 1:00 Lunch will be served and is included with registration

Raffles will be going on and Gamin' Ride trailer will be open just after the race for the day.

Join us September 18th on Sjon's Birthday!

Please join us on September 18th for Sjon's birthday!  We decided this is a perfect day for a benefit 5k walk, run, crawl or cheer as well as a kid's 1 mile walk/run.

This event is open to anyone and the cost is:

• 5k run, walk, crawl or cheer is $25 and includes an I am That I am! bracelet, lunch and drawing ticket for gym membership to Snap Fitness.
• Kids 1 mile is $10 and also includes a bracelet, lunch and a drawing ticket for the Gamin' Ride party.
• Registration is open online for credit cards now to September 16th and will be open at 8:30 a.m. at the park on Sept. 18th we will not be able to accept credit cards at the park sorry.
• To purchase lunch without the 5k or kids registration is $6 per person.
• We will have raffle tickets available to tow beautiful quilts to be given away in December.
• There will be two giveaways the day of the 5k thanks to the wonderful people at Snap Fitness and Gamin' Ride.  A Gym Membership and a Gamin' Ride Party will be given away! 
• You may also purchase additional tickets for the giveaways.

This is an event to raise money for the Sjon Lavery Donation Trust. Sjon was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in June of 2010. All funds raised will go directly to the Sjon Lavery Donation Trust.

Lump in Jaw removal update

On tuesday Sjon had a lymph node in his jaw removed.  The good news is that the doctor removed 20 lymph glands and the only one that was positive for cancer was the one that they went in for in the first place. Very good news!  He has a drain tube in his jaw, has a pretty sore throat and it hurts to talk but he is doing well. 
Right now he is focusing on resting and healing over the next two weeks so they can do an MRI and talk about the rest of his treatments.  His body has been through alot the last 7 weeks, 6 surgeries, wow.  The rest is much needed and if you see him out running around send him home immediately!  Just kidding, what type of Sjon update would this be without a little ha ha in it 'wink'.
Sjon and Angie want to thank everyone for their love and support.  They feel truly blessed to have all of you in their lives.

Spleen removed and update

Healing after Spleen removal

Yesterday Sjon had surgery to have his spleen removed.  We just talked to him and he is doing really well.  He said he is in a little pain and is tired but is doing great. 
Since he is a Lavery and he said he is magic, he has to gone above and beyond.  He actually grew an extra spleen!  Apparently when they went in to do the surgery the doctor said he had two.  So they removed the sick one and left the new little one in place.  This is something that is odd but happens so no worries when you are magic.
They took a look at his stomach and everything else looked good.
Yesterday he also had a biopsy on a lump that is on his jaw and the results came back positive so next week they will do 1 more surgery to remove it and then the surgeries should be done. 
Right now he has to stay off of his foot for about 2 more weeks, recover from this surgery and then he will be seeing the Dr. to get the go ahead to start treatments of Interferon. 
We were talking about how it seems like this has been going on forever but the truth is his first surgery was just 6 weeks ago.  Pretty amazing if you think about all they have done in just 6 weeks.  The doctors are hitting this very hard and Sjon's body is doing amazing though everything.

Sjon was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in June 2010. Many people who love Sjon and his family are coming together to help start fundraisers to help at this time. This blog is going to be a place to get information about events and updates.
